Horned toad Games Update September

Hey there! In this update I’ll walk you through everything that happened this month at the Horned Toad Games HQ.

The thing I’ve been working on for 3.5 years is finally in-house: The Arena of Baradum! After a production summer at Fabryka Kart in Poland, the game was delivered on a very hot Friday morning this month. 2.5 pallets of games, ready to be shipped to your table. It was a surreal moment holding a copy: the project has been been difficult from time to time and to see and feel the end result is still something extraordinary. The materials are superb, the colors are vibrant and the game is ecologically produced, which makes me extra proud. Now on to the next phase in this crazy rollercoaster project!

And that’s shipping. Boxes and packaging material have been ordered and delivered. All is ready for shipping, now it just takes time on my end. Thankfully I have an incredible partner who’s willing to help me out with packing and sending. Please be patient with me as I’m doing everything I can to have them to you asap. Time is precious and it’s just me (and my partner).

And then for the rest of the games, because around 100 games will be send to Gamefound backers. Spellenspektakel, the biggest Dutch boardgame convention, is coming up soon and I’ll be also be attending 2 smaller events in October. This will take a chunk out of the rest of the available games and because they are in limited supply, it could go real fast. Ge get it now in the webshop.

As for any new projects: I’ve been testing a new game for a couple times now. It’s a cardgame and it has a similar approach as The Arena of Baradum: easy-to-learn, difficult to master. I just love games that have easy rules, but get more complex the more you invest in it. The current plan is to develop it completely myself, so art and the like. I might be able to share something more before the end of this year.

But next month is all about The Arena of Baradum! Packaging, sending and demo playing. Can’t wait to share the game with you now it’s finally here!
