Horned Toad Games update May 2024
Hey there! In this update I’ll walk you through everything that happened after the Gamefound campaign for ‘The Arena of Baradum’ got funded 🔥
After the crowdfunding campaign got funded in April, I used May to finalize all the assets. The Graphic Designer working on a redesign for the Character Sheets did amazing work and brought it to where I envisioned it starting development 3 years ago. Last week I confirmed the order at Fabryka Kart in Poland. Great people and really helpful. There is still some back and forth, but that’s because they are just as keen as I am on delivering an amazing final product. It won’t be long before the production starts for real! The goal is to deliver the game on my doorstep mid-September, meaning it could be on your table end of September/early October. I’m also integrating a pickup in Amsterdam and Spellenspektakel for those able and willing. Communication about delivery will go out in June!
In the previous blog entry, I indicated the files for the free exclusive character should be sent out in May. However, after some thorough extra playtesting sessions I decided I needed some more time to finetune the extra character. The way it’s currently shaped up I just need a couple more sessions to confirm it’s balanced and fun to play with. Hoping to send it out this month (meaning June 2024).
Since the game will be entering production in June, I will open up the Late Pledges soon as well. If you haven’t supported the campaign or bought the game yet, during Late Pledge is the time! ‘The Arena of Baradum’ will be printed in limited supply, so if you snooze you lose 😉
And to end it all for May’s blog entry, I started working on a new game. But it has been a tumultuous month for me on the personal end, so instead of a first concept there are just some rough ideas put on paper for now. The core mechanic is almost there and I will use June to create the first prototype.
